Obituary | | Obituary: The obituary for Elizabeth was recorded. On Wednesday morning at 11:30 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Cash Creek, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Loveland, with whom she has made her home for the past fourteen years. The funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Elder F. M. Lindenmeyer, and interment was made in Foster Hill cemetery. Elizabeth Cash was born in Pike Co., Ohio, March 5th, 1840, she had thus reached the ripe old age of 76 years, 10 months and 26 days, at the time of her death. She came to Clay county with her parents at the age of 18, living with them in the Jenkins' settlement. She was united in marriage to John W. Creek, Nov 30, 1858, by Rev. David Standford. And they moved to the Beyhlehem (??) neighborhood where she made her home until her removal to Flora. To this union seven children were born, two sons and five daughters, all living. They are, Mrs. Jerusha Lynn, Mrs. Nancy J. Nelson, Flora; Charles Creek, Clay City; Mrs. Charlotte Lynn, Robert Creek, Mrs. Gracie Loveland and Mrs. Matilda M. Davis of Flora. She also leaves a number of grand children, who with their parents will miss the kindly face of mother. She united with the Christian church before her marriage and united with the Flora congregation in January 1907. She expressed herself as fully prepared to depart and was only waiting patiently for the summons to come home. Mrs. Creek was a woman of kindly gentle ways, a neighborly neighbor, a loving mother, devoted to all the best interests of her children, a sincere believer in God and a lover of His House. We believe the words of Whittier may be appropriately applied to her: 'Lord, though thou bend my spirit low; Love only will I see; The very hand that strikes the blow; Was wounded once for me. 'O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come. Our shelter from the stormy blast. And our Eternal Home. 'Angel of patience; sent to calm; Our feverish brows with cooling palm; To lay the syerms of hope and fear. And reconcile life's smile and tear. The throbs of wounded pride to still; O, make our own our Father's will.'2 |
