Note | Note:. The family story I heard before I did some research was that Frank took his Mom, Frances Manning, and brother David Wilder to visit Frances' mother, Mary Frances Jennings, in Sorento, IL. His girl friend, from Greenville, IL had just broken up with him. Note from the author: After reviewing the newspaper articles below there is one item that doesn't make sense at first - the trip to Wisconsin to get his mother. His mother lived in Sioux City, IA and her mother lived in Sorento, IL. Certainly, today, you'd take Interstates south from Sioux City to Kansas City to St Louis and east. But in 1935 'maybe' going through Wisconsin might have been a better route??3

Obituary | 21 March 2024 | Obituary: The obituary for Frank was recorded in Colorado Springs, El Paso, Colorado, United StatesB, on 21 March 2024. Howard Francis “Frank” Cash – beloved husband, father and grandfather – passed away peacefully in his home on March 8, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on April 27, 1937, the first of two sons to the late Howard and Lillian (Mortensen) Cash. Frank graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1956. He furthered his education at Morningside College, earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1961. An avid outdoorsman, Frank moved to Colorado to be closer to the hobbies that he enjoyed including hunting, fishing and camping. He had stories for days about his adventures in the woods – from stepping on a hibernating bear in the Rocky Mountains to chasing down Caribou in Alaska…most of which were true. He also loved classic cars and spent countless hours in the garage rebuilding engines and restoring Ford Mustangs. The cars, along with his hunting trophies, were his pride and joy and were kept on display for all to see. Unbeknownst to him, his move to Colorado would introduce him to a new love, his wife, Sheila. They married on New Year’s Eve in 1965 and shared nearly 49 years of memories – raising two daughters and doting on four grandchildren along the way. After working for private engineering firms, including a surveying company of his own, Frank made a career with the U.S. Department of Defense as a civilian contractor specializing in the areas of space, missile warning and war fighter support. He retired as a GM-15 in 1997 after more than 30 years. After he retired, Frank enjoyed bowling and making trips “up the hill” to try his luck in Cripple Creek. Even when he wasn’t bowling himself, he spent many hours in bowling centers visiting with his friends and watching his family bowl. Frank leaves behind daughters Penny and Dana and their spouses; four grandchildren – Kurt, Kenda, Taylor and Tanner; brother Ted (Verna) Cash and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife Sheila, son Kurt, and both parents. A private celebration of life will be held for the immediate family this summer in the place that he loved most…the mountains. |

Cruz of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on February 13th, 2022; surrounded by loved ones. Ricky brought so much joy to the world and it’s been a tragic loss for all that knew him. He was born on March 27, 1966 in Embudo, NM. Ricky was a hardworking man from a young age. He began working with his grandparents on the family farm in New Mexico and continued to work with family at Cruz Construction for over 40 years. Instead of following plans, he could fabricate designs from his head and make the most incredible masterpieces. Ricky was an outdoorsman to his core. He truly loved hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, camping, and was a skilled gunsmith. His passion for big game hunting was proudly displayed throughout his home. He loved to create memories by being with family and friends, celebrating holidays, and cooking delicious food together. Ricky was tremendously kind and generous. There was nothing that would stop him from caring about the people in his life. He showed up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need, and would defend and stand up for his loved ones should the need arise. He kept us safe. Obituary | Obituary: The obituary for Mary was recorded. Mary E Maxey, daughter of Mr and Mrs William Maxey, was born in Warrick County, Indiana, Sept. 7, 1846, died April 12, 1936, at the home of her son, Elijah Cash, Flora, Ill., at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Samuel Cash, Sr., on the 10th day of December, 1871. To this union was born seven children: William, who preceded her in death; four boys and two girls survive, namely, Edgar, Elijah, Harve and Sam and girls, Maggie and Mary. In her early life she moved with her parents to Wayne county, later coming to Clay county, where she married and reared her family. She first joined the Methodist church later moving her membership to the United Brethren church, where she attended until her health would not permit her to attend as it was too far to walk. She was faithful to the end, attending in the latter part of her life a church that was close to her home. She lived her religion, in her daily life, and followed the teachings of her Master very closely. She was a patient and loving as a mother, kind and forgiving to her neighbors and she leaves a place that can never be filled. To know her was to love her, and the pleasant memories of her will linger with her many friends. Besides her sons and daughters she leaves two daughters-in-law, one daughter-in-law having preceded her in death. She was two sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.4
