She was the daughter of: William and Elizabeth (Bremer) Schmidt. She attended Zion Parochial School, graduated from Ocheyedan High School and attended Concordia College in Seward, NE. Rosetta was united in marriage to Ralph Frese on August 9, 1953 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan. She taught school from 1952 to 1953 in Arapahoe, NE, 1953-57 at Yuma, CO and from there she moved to the Homestead area and taught at St. John's Parochial, Immanuel Lutheran School and the Lutheran Interparish School for many years. She also worked part time at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a nursing assistant and the Iowa City Movie Theater. Rosetta was a member of St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead where she was active in the Ladies Aid, organist and director of the Men's Choir. Teaching children to sing was one of her greatest joys. Rosetta Marie (Schmidt) Fresedied, age 78, passed away on Saturday; December 12, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City; Johnson County, Iowa. She is survived by her husband Ralph of Homestead; a daughter Marnita (Shawn) Curry of Sherrard, IL; a daughter-in-law: Barbara Frese of South English; five grandchildren: Daniel Frese, Riley (Sonia) Curry, Thomas Frese, Kenneth Jr. (Heather) Frese and Robert Frese; three great grandchildren: Reagan Curry, Craig Frese and Vanessa Frese; a brother: Eugene (Cheri) Schmidt of Ocheyedan; a sister: Janet Murphy of Phoenix, AZ and a sister-in-law: Violet Schmidt of Worthington, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son: Kenneth Frese and a brother: Allen Schmidt. May they rest in peace. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at the St. John Lutheran Church, rural Homestead. Pastor Wayne Woolery will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church Horton Township, Ocheyedan, Iowa. Rev. Russell Anderson officiating. Burial in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Horton Township, Ocheyedan, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Chapel in Ocheyedan. Marian Janet Bremer was born on April 26, 1935 in Kimbrae, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (Wenzel) Janssen. She lived her youth in Fulda, Minnesota where she attended a country school, St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Fulda High School in 1953. She went to Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota for teaching. She taught in Germantown, Iowa for three years and in Perham, Minnesota for one year. She was united in marriage to Donald Bremer of Ocheyedan, Iowa on June 22, 1958 in Fulda, Minnesota. They lived on the family farm. Marian taught school at Zion Lutheran School in Horton Township for one year and was a substitute teacher for many years. In 2000, Donald and Marian retired and moved to Ocheyedan. Marian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Horton Township, Ocheyedan, where she was an active member of the Ladies Aid, Dorcus Society and Ladies Women Missionary League, until she was unable. She was a former board member of the Ocheyedan Library and volunteered there weekly. Marian and Don enjoyed square dancing with the Turkey Trotters of Worthington, Minnesota. Marian enjoyed quilting and made many beautiful quilts and enjoyed quilt trips with her friends. She helped make many quilts for missions at church. She liked sewing, baking, reading, and vegetable and flower gardening. She especially enjoyed being around her grandchildren. Marian will be remembered as a calm person with a gentle spirit. She passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 54 years: Donald Bremer of Ocheyedan, IA; one son: Mark and Jodi Bremer of Ocheyedan, IA, and their children, Tristen, Jaydee and Christopher; one daughter: Wendy and Kerry Stonestreet of Lenexa, KS, and her son, Philip Buchman; 2 brothers: Leslie and Delores Janssen of Lakefield, MN, Loren Janssen of Great Falls, MT; one sister: Sharie Jasper of Yuma, AZ; and eleven nieces and nephews.
