AUSTIN -- The funeral Mass for William A. Ihlow will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, with the Rev. John Traufler officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin.

Mr. Ihlow, 78, of Austin, died Tuesday (April 15, 2008) at the Adams Health Care Center.

Born June 12, 1929, in Rice County, Minn., he attended country school and became a truck driver in his late teens. On June 27, 1950, he married Agnes Murphy at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. The couple lived in Faribault, Minn., until 1954, then moved to Austin. Mr. Ihlow worked for Daryl Armstrong Trucking from 1954 to 1972, transporting livestock. From 1972 to his retirement in 1991, he drove for Silver Truck Lines, transporting Weyerhaeuser paper products.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Winfield (Marcia) of Oswego, N.Y., Fred (Mary Beck) of Reno, Nev., David of Green Bay, Wis., and Paul of Austin; a daughter, Theresa Ihlow of Austin; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Edmund of Minneapolis and Gerald (Phyllis) of Las Vegas; and a sister, Alice Gerzevske of Faribault. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin, and an hour before the service Friday at the church. There will be a 6 p.m. wake service today at the funeral home.^1,2

She was born May 19, 1925 in Austin to Clarence and Mary Theresa Walsh. She was adopted by Alphonso and Frances Murphy. She grew up on a farm outside of Lyle, Minn., where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1945. Agnes married William A. Ihlow, from Faribault, Minn. on June 27, 1950 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. They lived in Faribault for three years and then moved to Austin. William died April 15, 2008. Agnes was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and doing crochet. She is survived by five children, Winfield (Marcia) Ihlow, Oswego, N.Y., Fred (Mary Beck) Ihlow, Reno, Nev., David Ihlow, Green Bay, Wis., Paul Ihlow and Theresa Ihlow, Austin, Minn.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother and sisters-in-law: Roger (Betty) Walsh and Lucille Walsh, of Austin, Minn. Agnes was preceded in death by her biological parents, her adoptive parents, a daughter-in-law Rene Ihlow a brother, John and two sisters, Virginia and Shirley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father John Traufler officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW Rosary on Sunday evening at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday and at the church one hour before the service on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her children, Winfield Ihlow, Fred Ihlow, David Ihlow, Paul Ihlow and Theresa Ihlow.¹
