Warren Otto Consoer was born on June 30, 1921 in Ocheyedan, Iowa. He was the son of Henry and Martha (Leckband) Consoer. He lived his youth on a farm north of Ocheyedan in Horton Township. He attended school at Lone Star Country School, Zion Lutheran Parochial School and Ocheyedan Community High School, graduating in 1940. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Dorr of Marcus, Iowa on May 1, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marcus. They lived on their farm north of Ocheyedan, where everyone knew it as "the place with the house on one side and the barn on the other side of the road". Warren enjoyed farming, visiting, tossing horseshoes and playing cards. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting trap and skeet. Warren was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township. As a youth he was involved in Zion's Walther League. In later years, Warren served as an elder and offering collector, was an active voting member, and on the cemetery committee. God gifted Warren with a wonderful singing voice. Being in the church choir brought him great joy and he loved singing praises to his Savior. His talents included playing piano, guitar, and baritone horn. He was on the Board of Directors at the Round Lake Cooperative Elevator. Warren passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa. She then moved to a farm in Horton Township north of Ocheyedan, Iowa. Marilyn attended Zion Lutheran School, Horton Township, Ocheyedan, Iowa, until the eighth grade. She then went to Ocheyedan Public School and later graduated from Ocheyedan High School. Marilyn was united in marriage to Leslie Consoer of Ocheyedan, Iowa, on September 25, 1949, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Horton Township, rural Ocheyedan. They made their home on a farm north of Ocheyedan and to this union five boys were born. They later moved to Prescott, Arizona and lived there for 33 years. In September of 2011, they moved back to Ocheyedan. Leslie passed away in October of 2016. Marilyn resided in Ocheyedan until February of 2017, when she moved to The Meadows in Worthington, MN. Marilyn was a homemaker and taught piano lessons. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where she played the organ starting from the age of 14 years old and later was involved in Ladies Aid. She was a former member of the First Lutheran Church of Prescott, AZ where she also was an organist. She played for many weddings and funerals throughout her life. She was a member of the “Just For Fun Club” in Ocheyedan for 70 years. Marilyn enjoyed music, sewing, playing cards, crafting and was an avid bird watcher. She especially liked cardinals. She also loved watching pro basketball, her favorite team was the Phoenix Suns. Marilyn is survived by her three sons, Neal (Beth) Consoer of Ocheyedan, IA, Monte (Sandy) Consoer of Worthington, MN, and Mark (Betty) Consoer of Kasota, MN; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Bill) Boesch of Glendale, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul (Lorraine) Consoer of Prescott Valley, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond, and Irma Stamp; husband, Leslie Consoer; sons, Michael, and Todd Consoer; and sister, Lorna (Bremer) Lenderts.5 |
