Carmen Cornelius, brother of John D Cornelius was Deputy County Treasurer of Queens Co., NY for many years and Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead in 1868. He was the first president of Freeport. He died of apoplexy, being stricken in the Surragate Office in Jamaca in 1893.1
