[from Waverly Democrat - 26 Apr 2011] Naomi Ruth Bonorden, 79, of Cedar Falls, died on Friday, April 22, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. Naomi was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Bennington Township, Black Hawk County, the daughter of Theodore and Martha (Schutte) Diercks. She was baptized Nov. 29, 1931, at her parents home and was confirmed March 25, 1945, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Readlyn. She attended Readlyn High School, graduating in 1949. On May 11, 1952, she was united in marriage to Virgil O. Bonorden at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Readlyn. She worked at Carnation (Nestle) in Waverly for seven years. Later in life she attended nursing school and worked as a nurse. Virgil passed away Feb. 25, 1996. Naomi is survived by three sons, Brian (Linda) Bonorden of Rutherford College, N.C., Kevin (Cindy) Bonorden of Grundy Center, Monte (Cindy) Bonorden of Waterloo; one daughter, Kerri (Tony) Gamerdinger of Dunkerton; 10 grandchildren; three great–grandchildren; two brothers, Lorraine Diercks of Janesville and Burton (Sharon) Diercks of Denver; two sisters, Lois Golz of Lombard, Ill. and Janice (Cliff) Israel of Waterloo; brother in law; and a sister in law. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; brothers, Lavern "Hank" Diercks, Jeroyd Diercks in infancy, and Eldon Diercks. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver. Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Denver. Visitation was held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver. Memorials may be directed to the or the family and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral home in Denver is in charge of arrangements.2 |
